Pillow block bearings, sometimes referred to as plummer block bearings, are mounted bearings that are used to provide load support for a rotating shaft. Their mounting surface is on a plane parallel and offset to the axis of the shaft. Mounting holes or slots in the base or feet of pillow block bearings permit adjustment and easy mounting.

 

 

Pillow Block Bearings Pillow blocks, the most commonly used type of mounted units, are designed to provide shaft support where the mounting surface is parallel to the shaft axis. The bolt holes are usually slotted for adjustment during mounting. Pillow blocks are supplied in a variety of configurations.Pillow block bearings are a typical style of bearing. These bearings are composed of a self-aligning ball bearing (the commonly used type) and plummer block. They can be attached to a shaft by fastening a ball retaining screw.
